Privacy Policy

What data Cairo Stream does and does not collect. No analytics, advertising or tracking is active; the only personal data we store is newsletter email addresses.

Current data practices

Cairo Stream:

  • does not use analytics or measurement platforms;
  • does not use advertising or ad-tech networks;
  • does not set tracking or advertising cookies;
  • does not operate reader accounts, logins or comment systems;
  • does not load third-party scripts beyond the web fonts used for typography.

Newsletter sign-ups

The newsletter uses confirmed opt-in. When you submit the form we store your email address in our own database on our hosting infrastructure, marked as unconfirmed, together with the date the request was recorded. We then email you a single confirmation link, and the address only becomes an active subscription once you follow it. Confirmation links expire after 48 hours.

  • We ask for an email address only — no name, phone number or any other detail.
  • The address is used solely to send the Cairo Stream briefing about Egypt's telecom and technology sectors.
  • We never sell, rent or share the list with advertisers or third parties.
  • Sign-ups are stored privately: the subscriber list is not readable from the public website.
  • To limit automated abuse of the form we keep a short-lived count of recent sign-up attempts per connection. It stores a scrambled, one-way fingerprint only — never your IP address — and entries are deleted after seven days.
  • No newsletter has been sent yet, and no external email delivery provider is connected. If one is introduced, this page will be updated before it goes live.

Removing your email

Email editor@cairostream.com at any time and we will delete your address from the database. You can also request confirmation of what we hold for your address.

Sharing buttons

Article share buttons are plain links: nothing is loaded from X, LinkedIn or Facebook while you read, and no data is sent to them unless you choose to click through and post from your own account.

Server logs

Like any website, the hosting infrastructure may process standard technical request data such as IP address and user agent in order to serve pages and maintain security.

Changes

If analytics, newsletter delivery or any other data processing is introduced later, this page will be updated before that service goes live.
